10 Tips for a Successful Lift One Project 10. Be Bold - Helping ease the burdens poverty places on a child is not an activity for the timid. Recruiting friends and family can be challenging. Be tireless and fierce and passionate about the cause. This will come across in all your interactions. 9. Customize - The best voice to inspire action is your voice. Alter or replace the default copy with your own views and experiences with sponsorship. Upload a photo of your sponsored child through your “My Account.” Although you will have the ability to send mass email messages out, you may have more success with personal emails. 8. Be Supportive - Maybe a friend can’t commit to sponsorship at this time. Tell them they can help in other ways. Maybe they can email their friends and tell them about your Lift One Project. 7. Update - To keep your audience engaged, consider changing the content of your website occasionally. Send updates to your group of potential sponsors every couple months to maintain their interest. Include a quote from your sponsored child or even scan a copy of your latest letter and email it to your friends. 6. Stay Positive - All journeys start with one step. Results may not be happening as fast as you would like, but don’t get discouraged. The Lift One Project is a marathon, not a sprint. 5. Friend’s Friend - You know the saying “a friend of yours is a friend of mine?” It’s true! Use this concept to increase your outreach. 4. Be Honest - Talk about how you were introduced to Children International and your sponsored child. Talk about any skepticism you may have experienced and how you overcome that apprehension, and become an advocate for the organization. 3. Inform - Given the right information, your family, friends, acquaintances and coworkers will be more likely to embark upon a lifetime of sponsorship.
